Between 1861-1864. Robert served under General Edward Cary Walthall in the Civil War. He was the Acting Captain when he was killed in the Battle of Jonesboro, Georgia, about 20 miles south of Atlanta. He was a 1st Lieutenant, acting as Captain. His body was never identified and was probably laid to rest on the battlefield in Jonesboro. [2] |
