Did she marry a Sexton?jkh of Sumter, South Carolina MIRANDA JO SPADER Posted Tuesday, July 18, 2023 6:00 am Miranda Jo Spader, 31, went to be with our Lord on Friday, July 14, 2023. She was taken from us too soon. Born on Dec. 4, 1991, in Coudersport, Pennsylvania, she was the beloved and only daughter of Keri and Tom Donlon and Terry Joseph Spader. A graduate of Sumter High School, she went on to graduate from Central Carolina Technical College, leading to her rewarding career as a registered nurse. Miranda worked for Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. She adored her work family. She spent her lifetime caring for her brothers as if they were her own. She was a godly woman. Her faith was strong, and she was faithful to her daily devotions and reading of the Bible. She attended Wise Drive Baptist Church. Miranda's love of animals, that she shared with her grandma Linda, was evident in her desire to rescue any and all she came across. She was creative and enjoyed crafting. To know her was to love her. Her beautiful smile and infectious laugh lit up the room. Miranda is survived by her best friend and mother, Keri Donlon; stepfather, Tom Donlon; father, Terry Joseph Spader; brothers, Terry Joseph Spader II (Kylie) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jett Donlon of Sumter and Shane Donlon (Madisyn) of Sumter; maternal grandparents, Bruce Crumrine of Austin, Pennsylvania, and Mary Jane Frank of Sumter; nephews, Silas and Dax Spader; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She shared a special relationship with her aunts, Tammy Spader of Port Allegany, Pennsylvania, and Christa Brookens (Scott) of Crestview, Florida. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Linda Crumrine, Joe Spader and Mae Donlon. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. on Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Sumter SPCA, 1140 S. Guignard Drive, Sumter, SC 29150. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements. At around 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a call after family members of Miranda Sexton, 31, of Henrietta Street, found her body inside the home, according to Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the police department. An initial investigation indicates Sexton suffered injures consistent with a stabbing. The Sumter County Coroner’s Office has scheduled an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Officers are working to identify a suspect and the incident is considered isolated, McGirt said. Officers are also searching for a vehicle that belonged to Sexton and was not found at the house. Anyone who sees a black 2015 Hyundai Elantra with S.C. license tag KZT563 is asked to contact the nearest law enforcement agency immediately. Anyone with information or who may have heard or seen anything in the 30 block of Henrietta Street on Friday is asked to contact the Sumter Police Department at (803) 436-2700. On Saturday, officers placed Steven Michael Adams, 36, considered homeless/transient, in custody after a resident saw the reported missing vehicle from the woman's home and Adams at a Pinewood Road business, according to Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the police department. Officers responded to a call on at around 7:30 p.m. Friday after family members of Miranda Sexton discovered her body inside her Henrietta Street residence. A vehicle belonging to Sexton was reported missing. An initial investigation indicated Sexton suffered injuries consistent with a stabbing. Adams, who was wanted for an unrelated theft on July 7 from an Ashley Street home, was identified late Friday as possibly having information about the fatal stabbing. He was later charged with murder, first degree burglary, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and grand larceny of $10,000 or more, according to McGirt. He is also is charged with petit larceny for the Ashley Street theft, McGirt said. Adams is booked at the Sumter County Sheriff's Office Detention Center. [1, 2, 3] | |
