  HIST	CATHERINE P. STEIGERWALT Catherine P. Snyder Steigerwalt, age 79, of Sumter, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Catherine was a member of St. Peter's Union Church of Mantzville, Tamaqua. Catherine was the first nurse's aide at Gnaden Huetten Hospital in Lehighton, Pa., and was a life member of the Auxiliary of the VFW Post 3034 Sumter. Born in Summit Hill, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Sarah Houm Snyder. She is survived by her two sons, Leon Steigerwalt and his wife, Sandy, of New Ringgold, Pa., and Leroy Steigerwalt and his wife, Fay, of Sumter; a brother, Charles Snyder and his wife, Kadie, of Tamaqua, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy E. Steigerwalt in 1998; a daughter, Beverly Steigerwalt; and brother, Franklin Snyder. Arrangements are being handled by Robert S. Nester Funeral Home Inc., 2066 W. Penn Pike, Village of Snyders, Route 309, New Ringgold, Pa., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Robert S. Nester Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. Rodney W. Wells officiating. Interment will be at St. Peter's Cemetery.
