Curtis Kennedy Jr. Posted: Wednesday, March 30, 2011 6:00 am George Curtis Kennedy Jr., 67, husband of Susan Castles Kennedy, died Monday, March 28, 2011, at his residence after an illness. Kennedy was born in Kingstree on Dec. 9, 1943, the son of the late George Curtis Kennedy Sr. and Mary Lundy Kennedy. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School and Clemson University and retired from Farmers Telephone Coop. and from farming. Curtis was a member of Kingstree United Methodist Church and an avid Clemson sports fan. Surviving in addition to his wife, Susan, are: his daughters, Laura Barrow Kennedy and Kathryn Blair Kennedy, both of New Zion; his sister, Judy (James) King, of Sumter; and his loyal companion, Jessie. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kingstree United Methodist Church with burial in Kingstree Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the ladies parlor of Kingstree United Methodist Church Memorials may be made to Kingstree United Methodist Church, 510 N. Longstreet St., Kingstree, SC 29556, or the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
