| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina at death- she had 4 grandchildren THELMA P. GATH Thelma Parnell Gath, 78, widow of Philip Gath, died Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Brunswick, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Ellis George and Helen Joiner Parnell. Mrs. Gath was a member of Trinity United Church, where she was a member of the FaHoLo Sunday School Class. She was a retired court reporter with the 9th Air Force. Surviving are one stepdaughter, Sandra McElveen and husband, John, of Lexington; three sons, Harley Randall Stokes and wife, Karen, of Charleston, Scott Daniel Stokes and wife, Linda, of Florida and Mark Gregory Stokes and wife, Terri, of Beaufort; two sisters, Betty Caulkins of Sumter and Geraldine Johnson of Alabama; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Gorry officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the FaHoLo Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
