| HIST | VERNON F. DEESE The Rev. Vernon F. "Bobby" Deese, age 77, beloved husband of 52 years to Earline Mitchum Deese, died on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, at his residence. He was born on Oct. 23, 1932, in Chester, a son of the late Luther Marion Sr. and Kathleen Aileen Wright Deese. He began his ministry in August of 1957, and was ordained an elder on June 13, 1963. He later retired to his wife's home in Sumter. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, V. Franklin Deese II of Columbia; a daughter, Lola Darline Deese Sughrue of Sumter; a grandson, Folwin Marc-Anastase Saint George Deese of Paris, France; a sister, Lola Alvertus Deese Sanders of Chester; a brother, Luther Marion (Bill) Deese Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; a large extended family; and many friends. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cynthia Taylor officiating. Committal will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church cemetery in Oswego with the Rev. Cec Jenkin officiating. Invited to be honorary pallbearers are the clergy of the South Carolina Annual Conference. Please wear green stoles. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bullock Funeral Home.
